Tributes have poured in for the British band Viola Beach after their car plunged into a canal in Stockholm, Sweden, on February 13, 2016, killing all four members and their manager.
On the 10th anniversary of the tragedy, a commemorative installation in the shape of a “V” made from rainbow umbrellas was unveiled in Warrington’s Old Market Square, where the band had previously performed. Organizers said the tribute honors Kris, River, Tomas, Jack, and Craig, giving the community a moment to reflect and remember.
The accident happened when their car went through the barriers of a bridge in the Södertälje district of Stockholm as it was closing and fell into the canal.
After their deaths, Viola Beach received widespread support from fans and the music industry, and their debut album posthumously reached No. 1. Today, they are also remembered with a commemorative plaque at Parr Hall in Warrington.
